As per a report:

In Bhind (Madhya Pradesh - India) in order to ensure removal of encroachment upon a road by a Hanuman temple, authorities here have issued notice to the temple's main deity -- Lord Hanuman! The temple is situated in the district's Bajariya locality and a portion of it is deemed to be encroaching upon the public thoroughfare.

Pursuant to a directive of Gwalior High Court to remove the encroachment, the municipal authorities on Friday issued notice addressing Lord Hanuman instead of the temple's priest or the trust. The notice to Lord Hanuman reads: "You have illegally encroached the road which causes public inconvenience, leading to possibility of accident. Despite earlier directive to remove the encroachment, you have not complied.

You were given the Gwalior High Court's order. But you didn't comply. A contempt of court case has been initiated against you." Meanwhile, with the notice drawing wide public attention and adverse comments, the top municipal officials later said the notice was mistakenly issued and would be recalled. Water Wives of India

As per a report:

For Sakharam Bhagat, as for many others in the hamlet some 140 km (85 miles) from Mumbai, the only answer to water scarcity is to have a 'water wife'. Bhagat, 66, now has three wives, two of whom he married solely to ensure that his household has water to drink and cook. "I had to have someone to bring us water, and marrying again was the only option," said Bhagat, who works as a day labourer on a farm in a nearby village. "My first wife was busy with the kids.

When my second wife fell sick and was unable to fetch water, I married a third." Bhagat and his family are suffering the consequences of a critical shortage of safe drinking water in India's villages, as well as the fallout from the most severe drought that his state, Maharashtra, has faced in a decade. In Maharashtra, India's third-largest state, the government estimated last year that more than 19,000 villages had no access to water.

And India is again facing the threat of a drought this year, with monsoon rains expected to be weaker than average. In Denganmal, a cluster of about 100 thatched houses set on an expanse of barren land, most men work as farm labourers, barely earning the minimum wage. Marrying for water has been the norm here for many years, villagers said. Bhagat's wives all live in the same house with him but have separate rooms and kitchens.

Two of them are entrusted with fetching water, while the third manages the cooking. Polygamy is illegal in India, but, in this village, "water wives" are common. "It is not easy to have a big family when there is no water," Namdeo, another villager who has two wives, said.

Ghost Trouble in Power Station, Workers approach Cops

As per a report:

Ghost Trouble has aroused in a Power Station in Barmer-Jaisalmer. After local tantriks failed to exorcise ghosts that allegedly inhabit a Rajasthan power station and the search for a true master of tantra proved fruitless, the affected employees have approached the police. In their complaint, employees of the Sheo grid sub-station on the Barmer-Jaisalmer highway have alleged that their workplace has been haunted by a group of evil spirits over the past 10 nights and they have been forced to work in an environment of acute fear.

The evil spirits allegedly jump on rooftops, throw stones at employees and stop them from attending to electrical faults. In one case when an employee climbed atop an electricity pole to fix some wires, he felt a ghost was already there working on the problem. T

he employees have linked this paranormal presence to the death of a worker on duty at the spot some years back. Some suspect the ghost stories could be a ploy to mask the theft of government equipment but no missing articles have been reported so far. Barmer zone’s chief engineer Premjit Dhobi confirms “evil disturbance” at the station and says only the police might be able to help.“We have received complaints from employees and have sought police protection.

We are not aware who all could be behind these problems,” he said. One employee is said to have proceeded on indefinite leave out of fear. Among the allegations against the ghosts is that they load cables, poles and other power equipment on to trucks.

But the employees say they only hear sounds of such activity; when they step out to check, no trucks are found. Sheo police station SHO Dhanna Puri Goswami says police teams have visited the spot twice -- for the entire night on one occasion but nothing unusual was detected. “We haven’t been able to verify these claims, even when our men were there through the night,” he said.

As per a report:

An ahemdabad based gynecologist and an insurance company will have to shell out Rs 8 lakh with 9% interest for 12 years for forgetting a mop inside a patient's body after a surgical procedure. Gynecologist Dr Vandana Amin ran a nursing home in Patan in 2002. One Mitaben Patel consulted her after the bleeding in her uterus did not stop even after a laser therapy. The gynecologist advised her to remove the uterus and a surgery was performed on the patient in October 2002. After the surgery, patient encountered another problem. A sonography report revealed a piece of gauze was present in the body.

It was found attached with the intestine and was creating multiple problems for her. Mitaben had to undergo another surgery and the mop was removed more than a year after her first operation. In 2003, Mitaben moved a consumer court in Surat, where she used to live. She demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation for the doctor's negligence. The court concluded that the mop had damaged the intestine and other inner parts of the body, and therefore ordered the doctor to pay Rs 8 lakh for her gross negligence. Since the hospital was insured, the insurance company also came into the picture. However, the doctor and insurance company questioned the order at the Gujarat State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.

The commission upheld the earlier decision of the consumer court. "Was is not the duty of the gynecologist to verify that every instrument, gauze, cotton and other articles used during the operation were back on operating table after completing the operation or not?" the commission said. "If anything remains in the body during the operation, it is gross negligence on the part of the operating doctor." Besides asking to pay Rs 8 lakh to patient with interest, the consumer commission also ordered the doctor and insurance company to pay Rs 10,000 to the patient for dragging Mitaben to court again. - See more at: http://www.newskarnataka.com/from-the-web/doctor-forgets-mop-in-patients-body-asked-to-pay-rs-8-lakh#sthash.tEXjyxao.dpuf

As per a report:

An Indian baraat went empty handed after the bride refused to marry the bridegroom on moral grounds when her would be father-in-law kissed her cousin. The incident took place in Farrukhabad district in Kanpur. The marriage of Ruchi, daughter of Parmeshwari Dayal from Nagla Khairband village in Farrukhabad, was fixed with Rajesh, son of Baburam from Nehru Nagar of Jaithara in Etah. On the wedding day, the baraat reached Nagla Khairband village.

All was well till the time of ‘jaimal’ ceremony when the bride’s cousin Anita (name changed), who had come from Nagla Bhamrasa village of the district, also sharing the stage with her sister, was kissed by the groom’s father Baburam even as the bride and her family looked on in deep disapproval.Piqued at his behaviour, Ruchi refused to marry and ordered the marriage party to return immediately. Sensing seriousness of the situation, Rajesh’s father apologised to the girl and her parents publicly.

But Ruchi refused to give in. Ruchi’s mother, who also rushed from Etah, tried to pacify her but she refused to budge citing moral reasons. Later, the bridegroom and his father were confined to an enclosure by the girl’s side and police were informed. While narrating the incident on phone, bride’s cousin Brijesh Kumar said that the wedding party was allowed to return to Etah only after it agreed to return the gifts and reimburse the expenses amounting to Rs 27,900 incurred by the family of the girl on marriage arrangements.

The groom’s family returned the gifts and paid the money to the bride’s family for the expenses incurred, the police said. “Though police assistance was sought, the matter was resolved mutually by both the sides,” said SHO Kotwali RP Yadav.
