Mr Pankaj Parakh, who belongs to Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party, has a shirt, made of pure gold, that weighs four kilos and costs 1.30 crores. He made his fortune through a garment business after quitting school in Class 8, and is a member of the municipal corporation of Yeloa, about 260 kms from Mumbai.

Mr Parakh says that today, for his 45th birthday, he will wear his shirt at a special celebration where expected attendees include Maharashtra Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and around a dozen legislators of different parties. "Gold has always fascinated me since I was five years old and studying in school.

Over the years, I have become passionate about this royal metal. I have got this special shirt stitched to mark my 45th birthday this Friday," Mr Parakh said. The shirt was designed in Nashik, 85 km away, and then created by jewelers in Mumbai, where a team of around 20 select artisans spent 3,200 hours over the past two months to 'stitch' it. As per a report:

In a bizarre heist, thieves in New Delhi stole In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) materials and vials from Moolchand Hospital on Saturday damaging the laboratory and other instruments. Police have registered an FIR and suspect that this could be the handiwork of someone from withing the hospital. Police said that the thieves took off with vials containing sperms and even equipment and instruments used in the IVF technique.

The incident took place on Saturday and came to light on Sunday after the lab technician, Paritosh Kumar Sarkar noticed that the lab was ransacked and many things were missing. The police is surprised at the precision of the theft since IVF is a very specific field and the materials and instruments used in this field is not used for any ordinary purpose. Aeroplane grounded in Delhi as Rats run riot

As per a report:

Rats forced the grounding of an Air India aircraft that arrived in New Delhi from Kolkata as the plane was taken to a remote bay for fumigation. The crew of the Airbus A-321, operating flight AI-021 from Kolkata, found a rat in the rear of the aircraft, airline sources said.

As soon as the flight landed and the passengers had deplaned, the aircraft was taken off service and removed for fumigation to a remote bay. Rodents are unwelcome guests who pose a serious threat to an aircraft as they can chew up and damage the hundreds of wires on a plane. The sources said they suspect the rats came from the catering vans which deliver food to the aircraft.

There have been cases in the past few years in which rats have reportedly delayed some domestic flights. Read more at: http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/rat-on-board-grounds-air-india-plane/1/375870.html

Monkey Owns Copyright for Selfie, Wikipedia tells Photographer

Subscribe to My Viuz Subscribe to My Viuz in MY YAHOO! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY GOOGLE! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY MSN! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY AOL! Subscribe to My Viuz in Rojo!
As per a report:

A selfie taken by a black macaque on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi three years back has become a tug of war between Wikipedia and the photographer who claims he is the owner of the selfie. Wikipedia has refused to remove the famous selfie, saying the monkey – and not the photographer – owns the copyright because the animal took it.

”This file is in the public domain because as the work of a non-human animal, it has no human author in whom copyright is vested,” a message on Wikipedia site read. The photographer David Slater was clicking photos of crested black macaques in 2011 when one of the endangered monkeys hijacked his camera and snapped hundreds of pictures. Among those, there were some stunning images, including a selfie of the macaque that made headlines.

Slater is now planning to take legal action against Wikimedia that owns Wikipedia, after the company used the photo on its site without permission, media reports said. ”I own the photo but because the monkey pressed the trigger and took the photo, they are claiming the monkey owns the copyright,” Slater was quoted as saying. According to him, Wikimedia’s decision to include his image in its database and making it free to download had resulted in a loss of earnings. Slater could sue the company for statutory damages of up to $30,000, reports added.

Police had to use force to disperse the villagers. Varanasi commissioner RM Srivastava along with DM and SSP of Varanasi was camping at Betawar Ghat in Varanasi to monitor the rescue operations. Reports said on Tuesday the Ganga was flowing five metres above normal level in Mirzapur and four metres above the level in Varanasi as the boat headed towards Gaangpur in Mirzapur from Betawar Ghat in Varanasi.

As per a report:

Indian parliament is getting protected from monkey menace as 40 men in ape suits are there to scare away monkeys from parliament. So "If you can’t beat them, join them." adage is coming true. That’s the approach Indian officials are taking to scare away hordes of macaques plaguing its parliament.

The Indian government is hiring men to pose as menacing langur monkeys, The “very talented” group of 40 men has taken to wearing monkey masks, imitating their whoops and barks and hiding behind trees to ward off the aggressive animals, the head of the Delhi municipality told AFP. The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), the body tasked with providing civic services, said the men were “very talented” and had been trained to “closely copy” the noises and actions of the more aggressive langurs to scare away the smaller rhesus macaques.

“They often wear a mask on their faces, hide behind the trees and make these noises to scare away the simians,” NDMC chairman Jalaj Srivastava told AFP. If the ape-men failed to rid the capital’s administrative centre of the monkey menace then marksmen armed with rubber bullets could be deployed. A New Delhi Municipal Corporation employee fires a paintball gun as he demonstrates methods to scare away monkeys Groups of monkeys, which are revered in the majority Hindu nation, roam freely around Delhi’s streets where they trash gardens, offices and even attack people in search of food.

15 days old Facebook Friends, Man murders Woman when they meet in person

Subscribe to My Viuz Subscribe to My Viuz in MY YAHOO! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY GOOGLE! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY MSN! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY AOL! Subscribe to My Viuz in Rojo!
As per a report:

After chatting with a Facebook friend for only 15 days, 42-year-old Baguiati homemaker Soma Ghosh agreed to meet him. That proved to be her undoing. The 33-year-old man from Birbhum landed up at her flat and murdered her in a fit of rage on Monday after she rebuffed his advances, police said on Thursday. Abhishek Majumdar, known as Totla Rana back home due to his stammering, was arrested from Bolpur on Wednesday night and brought to Kolkata. He used the name Nandan Sen on Facebook and was introduced to Soma on the social networking site by a close friend. Soma and Abhishek began chatting regularly and only seven days later reportedly exchanged phone numbers. Police say Soma invited Abhishek to her home.

Accordingly, he landed up at Soma's Rabindrapally apartment complex around 1pm on Monday and was actually escorted to her flat by a next-door neighbour. Police have two theories on what transpired next. "Both the man and the woman were shocked to find the real human being to be different from the virtual world," said an investigator. Majumdar is married and has a son. The short, slightly built man had posted the jazzy photo of a biker on his Facebook profile. "Majumdar desired a 'closer relationship', which Soma strongly opposed.

She was the mother of a 17-year-old girl. But the youth could not take her rejection and tried to force her. There was a scuffle and she fought back. In a fit of rage, he picked up a belan-chaki and a knife from the kitchen and attacked her. When she fell on the floor unconscious after the beating, Majumdar cut her throat and fled with Soma's phone as he was afraid that the numerous SMSs exchanged between the two would have led police to him," said an officer, adding that the murder was not planned. Another theory is that he might have been blackmailing her. Since the family says some gold bangles are missing, police are investigating if Abhishek took them to make it look like a robbery.

"He confessed that he killed her in a fit of rage and fled," said Bidhannagar ADCP Santosh Nimbalkar. It was Soma's daughter who found her body after returning from school around 3pm on Monday. Her throat was slit and there were multiple stab wounds on her chest and gashes on her hands, indicating she put up a fight. During investigation, police questioned her husband Sujit Ghosh, a family friend and a neighbour who also had a link in the Facebook chats between Soma and Abhishek. "After interrogating her, we came to know about Soma's new friendship with Nandan aka Abhishek and started tracking him down," an officer said.

Women aged 100, 200, even 500 year old are Welfare Beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh - India

As per a report:

Women aged 100, 200, even 500 year old are listed as recipients of sewing machines and bicycles under welfare schemes in Raipur in Chhattisgarh. The "miracle" could either be an error, or a massive scam waiting to be exposed. No one knows for sure.

A Right to Information query by an activist, Sanjeev Agrawal, has revealed that many beneficiaries of the state Labour Department's schemes are centuries old. The oldest beneficiary is Usha Jamgare, 532. Many of these questionable entries have no addresses listed. Mr Agrawal has called for an investigation into what he believes could be corruption involving schemes that cost the state over Rs. 40 crore.

The schemes were launched just before the November-December state elections. The cycles were to help women between 18 and 35 years and the sewing machines were for women from 35 to 60. Over one lakh women are believed to have received the freebies, but their age seems to be off the mark by about a century - or five.
