As per a report:

Two dozen commandos from Thailand are guarding nearly 300 kg gold in 13 boxes in Bihar's Bodhgaya town as work began to cover the dome of 1,500-year old Mahabodhi temple in glitter.

The much awaited work to gold-plate the dome is being carried out by a team of technical experts from Thailand, officials said. Two days after the 289 kg gold, donated by Buddhist devotees from Thailand, was brought at Bodhgaya in a special plane from Bangkok, technical experts have finally started the work under tight security in and around the temple, said N. Dorjee, secretary of the Bodh Gaya temple management committee.

"A 40-member team, including a dozen experts and two dozen commandos, from Thailand arrived at Bodhgaya with gold in 13 boxes to complete the work in 40 to 50 days," Singh said. He said the team is led by Thailand's former deputy prime minister General Pricha. "About 24 Thailand commandos are providing security to the gold boxes kept in the temple premises," Singh said.

Gods forbid: India’s Temples guard their Gold from government

India’s temples are resisting divulging their gold holdings – perhaps nearly half the amount held in Fort Knox – amid mistrust of the motives of authorities who are trying to cut a hefty import bill that is hurting the economy.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which has already taken steps that have slowed to a trickle the incoming supplies that have exacerbated India’s current account deficit, has sent letters to some of the country’s richest temples asking for details of their gold. It says the inquiries are simply data collection, but Hindu groups are up in arms.

“The gold stored in temples was contributed by devotees over thousands of years and we will not allow anyone to usurp it,” said V Mohanan, secretary of the Hindu nationalist Vishwa Hindu Parishad organisation in Kerala, in a statement. Indians buy as much as 2.3 tonnes of gold, on average, every day – the weight of a small elephant – and what they don’t give to the gods is mostly hoarded. Jewellery is handed down as heirlooms and stored away with bars and coins as a hedge against inflation or a source of quick funds in an emergency. Read More Here

Facebook Prank by a Fisherman regarding Gold Bar Launches Police Investigation

What would you say to a  Facebook Prank by a Fisherman regarding Gold Bar which Launched Police Investigation. As per a report:

A fishing trawler crew’s prank backfired after they posted photos on Facebook of a fake gold bar and were met by police as soon as they docked.

The fishermen boasted that they had found 11 bars of bullion worth £1.5m when if fact the metal was an old brass bracket. Skiller Billy Anderson, 36, had to explain to police that it was simply a piece of scrap his boat landed while fishing for scallops and not bullion rumoured to be on the seabed from the infamous 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery, where £26million was stolen from a Heathrow warehouse.

Mr Anderson, who works for TN Trawlers in Arran, and his crew of six cut up the bracket with an angle grinder so he could trick his fiancée into thinking that they were suddenly rich, according to The Sun. The fishermen’s boasts quickly spread throughout other boats, and Mr Anderson was met with requests to give the precise location of his find, 16 miles off Falmouth in Cornwall.

Mr Anderson, from Dumfries, Scotland, had to persuade his fiancée, Claire Muir, 29, not to go on a lavish shopping spree and eventually told his boat’s owners the truth after they prepared to send two more vessels to the site.
